Can I use photos/images from the internet in my spec work?
I am trying to build my portfolio of spec ads as an aspiring copywriter.
I am not artistically inclined, so I would like to use photos/images from the internet to accompany text in my ads.
Because I am not profiting from this work, must I have permission to
use the images? Artistic property, intellectual property,
copyright… all the same (“A rose by any other name…”).
You ARE benefiting, otherwise why do you want to use them (“in [your] ads”)?
YOUR ads will direct clients to you, clients that will PAY for your services…
what do you mean you “won’t” benefit? No, you may not
use them UNLESS you obtain written permission by the copyright owner.
The law is very simple and strict; respect and obey the law or risk a hefty fine and a lawsuit by the copyright owner.
You really should do some research into this matter; you
think “benefiting” refers ONLY to monetary gain? No, you’re wrong.
LOOK UP copyright laws, READ and understand what it says and stop trying to avoid the responsibility of respecting
the ownership of someone else’s work.
Good response in return of this matter with solid arguments and describing
all concerning that.
