Of course, there are everyday kitchen essentials like baking sheets, cutting boards, pots, and pans – these are the other tools we think every home cook should have.

1. Chef’s Knife

Yes, knives are a common kitchen essential, but most home cooks underestimate what has a good quality chef’s knife can do for your cooking. Having a chef’s knife that you keep well maintained can help make cooking fun and safer!

2. Microplane

There is a lot of zesting in HelloFresh recipes, and for a good reason! Zesting citrus is a great way to add a punch of flavour to whatever recipe you’re making. Plus, when not using this for zesting citrus, you can also use it to shred cheese or grate chocolate shavings over a hot chocolate or latte.

3. Vegetable Peeler

Don’t let the name fool you this handy tool isn’t just about peeling vegetables. You can also use these to make delicious zucchini ribbons like the ones in our Mediterranean Beef and Zucchini Ribbons.

4. Sieve

These multi-purpose tools are great for draining cans of beans or pasta, but you can also use these to steam veggies and depending on your strainer to shift dry ingredients like flour.

5. Silicone Baking Mat (or Parchment Paper)

If you cook at home a lot (and if you’re an avid baker), having parchment paper or investing in a silicone baking mat can be a pan saver! They keep your food from sticking, and if you opt for silicone baking mats, re-use them time and time again. Plus, silicone baking mats are a great way to keep your counter clean if you’re rolling out pizza dough or something like that.
