Avocado toast is ALL the rage right now. While we love smashing it up and piling it up with yummy toppings, nothing is more insta-worthy than a perfectly positioned avocado rose. It’s one thing to snap a pic at your go-to brunch spot, but invite some friends over and let them know that take brunch seriously with an avocado rose. We’ve got you covered with this step-by-step guide to creating the brunchy toast of your dreams.

How to Make an Avocado Rose

STEP 1: Cut avocado in half lengthwise, remove seed, and carefully peel away the skin. Place the cut side down on the cutting board and slice thinly width-wise. Thin and consistent slices here are key.

STEP 2: Delicately fan out your avocado slices in a U-shape. All the pieces should still be touching each other and evenly spaced. You can use all the slices for a larger rose or remove a few slices for a smaller rose. You may want to remove the end pieces (they tend to be a little wonky).

Step 3: Starting from one side, curl and fold your slices inwards towards the centre to start creating your rose. An oiled surface can help if you’re having trouble moving the slices smoothly.

STEP 4: Continue folding into a spiral until you have achieved your desired rose shape. To get the “petals” of your avocado rose tighter, we recommend enlisting the help of a spoon to push the slices closer together.

STEP 5: Pile your favourite toppings on your toast! Finally, use a spatula to carefully transport your precious rose from the cutting board to your toast. Need some topping inspo? Some of our favourites include:

    • Salt and Pepper
    • Chili Flakes
